It really comes down to if you have any excess skin or just localized fat deposits. If you have liposuction, and you already have some loose skin, it will likely get worse. Liposuction will help with a better contour in a patient that is at an ideal weight with localized fat deposits and no skin laxity. A tummy tuck is needed if you have excess skin and/or laxity to the abdominal muscles. We always do liposuction in conjunction with every tummy tuck to enhance the results. Therefore, the amount of skin laxity, muscle/abdominal wall laxity, and subcutaneous fat deposits determines which procedure is best for you. If you just have laxity of the lower abdominal muscles with skin laxity of just the lower abdomen a mini tuck might be the right procedure for you, but if you have laxity of the muscles above and below the umbilicus with laxity of the skin above and below as well, a full abdominoplasty is what is needed. Call New Leaf Plastic Surgery today (817-380-1087) for an evaluation, and Dr. Lovelace will help you decide which procedure is right for you.
