Facial Fillers at New Leaf

Facial fillers may address selected areas of volume loss or refine certain contours. Treatment planning considers facial balance, the product and area involved, and the limitations and risks of injectables.

Facial fillers add volume beneath the skin to address selected folds, volume loss, and contour concerns. Product choice and placement vary by area. Fillers differ from wrinkle-relaxing injections and have distinct risks, including rare but serious vascular complications.

Overview / Facial Fillers

What Are Facial Fillers?

Facial fillers, also called dermal fillers, are injectable treatments used to restore volume, soften folds, enhance contours, and improve facial balance. Many commonly used fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps support hydration and volume.

As the face ages, several changes can happen at once. Natural fat pads can shift or diminish, bone structure can change, collagen support decreases, and the skin may not hold the same firmness it once did. These changes can create hollowing, folds, shadows, and a tired or aged appearance.

Fillers can help replace some of that lost support in carefully selected areas. The key is placement. A small amount of filler in the right location can sometimes look more natural than a larger amount placed directly into a single line or crease.

Candidates / Facial Fillers

Are Facial Fillers Right for Me?

You may be a good candidate for facial fillers if you want to restore lost volume, soften deeper folds, or enhance facial contours without surgery.

  • Are in generally good health
  • Want to improve volume loss or deeper creases
  • Prefer a non-surgical option
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Understand that maintenance treatments may be needed
  • Want natural-looking improvement rather than dramatic change

Not every line or wrinkle should be treated with filler. If your concern is caused by repeated muscle movement, such as frown lines, forehead lines, or crow’s feet, a wrinkle relaxer like BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® may be more appropriate.

A consultation can help determine whether your concern is caused by volume loss, facial movement, skin quality, or laxity.

Options / Facial Fillers

Types of Facial Fillers

There are several different filler products, and they are not all used the same way. Some fillers are softer and better suited for delicate areas, while others provide more structure and support.

During consultation, product selection is based on the area being treated, the depth of volume loss, the desired result, and the patient’s anatomy. The product matters, but so does the plan behind it.

Procedure / Facial Fillers

What to Expect During Facial Filler Treatment

Facial filler treatments are performed in the office and usually require minimal preparation. Depending on the treatment area, a topical numbing agent or local anesthetic may be used to improve comfort.

During treatment, filler is placed carefully into targeted areas to restore volume, improve contour, or soften folds. Treatment time depends on the number of areas being treated and the amount of correction needed.

Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment. Some fillers provide an immediate volume change, while others work gradually. Swelling can affect the early appearance.

Recovery / Facial Fillers

Recovery After Facial Fillers

Recovery after facial fillers is usually minimal. Some temporary swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, or mild asymmetry can occur after treatment.

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area unless instructed
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for a short period
  • Avoid excessive heat exposure immediately after treatment
  • Use cold compresses if recommended
  • Follow all aftercare instructions provided by our team

Most swelling improves within several days, although this varies by treatment area and product used. Bruising can happen even with careful technique, so patients should consider timing if they have a special event coming up.

Planning / Facial Fillers

How Do Facial Fillers Work?

Facial fillers work by adding volume beneath the skin in areas where support has been lost or where contour enhancement is desired. While many people think of fillers as something used to “fill lines,” modern filler treatment is usually more about restoring facial structure and balance.

  • Restore cheek and midface volume
  • Soften nasolabial folds
  • Improve marionette lines
  • Enhance lip shape and fullness
  • Improve jawline definition
  • Improve chin balance in selected patients
  • Reduce hollowing in the temples or midface
  • Improve facial symmetry and proportion
  • Create a more refreshed overall appearance

A visible line or fold can sometimes be related to volume loss in another area. For example, loss of cheek support can make folds around the mouth look deeper. A balanced treatment plan looks at the whole face rather than overcorrecting one isolated area.

Risks and Side Effects

Seek immediate medical attention for unusual pain, skin turning white, vision changes, or stroke symptoms during or shortly after filler treatment. See the FDA’s dermal filler safety information.

Although facial fillers are non-surgical, they are still medical treatments that require proper technique, judgment, and anatomy-based planning.

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Tenderness
  • Temporary asymmetry
  • Lumpiness or unevenness during early healing
  • Infection
  • Accidental injection into a blood vessel, which can cause tissue death, blindness, or stroke
  • Unsatisfactory result
  • Need for adjustment or additional treatment

More serious complications are rare but possible. Choosing an experienced provider and following aftercare instructions can help reduce risk.

How Much Do Facial Fillers Cost?

The cost of facial fillers in Fort Worth depends on the product selected, the number of areas treated, and the amount of filler needed to achieve your goals.

Because each face is different, pricing is customized to your treatment plan. A consultation allows for a detailed evaluation and a clear understanding of expected cost.

When Will I See Results?

Many hyaluronic acid fillers provide an immediate volume change, while results with some other products develop gradually. However, the treated area may look slightly swollen at first, and the final result becomes more apparent as swelling settles.

  • Improved facial volume
  • Softer folds or creases
  • More balanced facial contours
  • Improved lip shape or fullness
  • A less tired appearance
  • More refreshed facial harmony

Results vary depending on the product used, the treatment area, metabolism, and lifestyle factors.
